Alex McLaughlin // LET THERE BE LIGHT

Let there be light

Shining on all corners of the earth

On the man sobbing, the child laughing, and on the woman giving birth

Let there be light

Streaming through the windows of all who have suffered

Brightening up their moods, watching over like a mother

Let there be light

Glistening on the pond, awakening the fish with a cheery hello

Shining into the face of the young child, when worries are let go

Let there be light

Illuminating the corpse-ridden battlefield

Reminding us of the sacrifices that were made, and the scars left unhealed

Let there be light

Ending all evil

Leading to peace and friendship, where nobody is unequal

Let there be light

Reminding everyone what is wrong

And that despite our differences, we all belong
