Anna Warren // SHAKING

Stretch.

Run.

Ride.

Nothing is wrong.

Doctor.

Acupuncture.

Surgeon.

Physical Therapist.

Chiropractor.

Homeopath.

Physiatrist.

Orthopedist.

I’ve seen them all.

I was being loaded into a cannon,

The small tube of the MRI,

Machines whirring

Locked into place.

Riding for years

running for months

STOP

you can’t walk, run, or ride.

Just stretch.

Cold gel,

Muscles tighten for what comes next,

Little prick

My joint swells,

Steriod rushes in,

Again and Again.

Scalpel please.

Skipping.

Jumping.

Smiling.

Comfort, no pain, I was free.

My lip is sore.

Biting it to keep it from shaking.

The music is loud.

The hand on my back is warm.

I can’t hear.

Shooting up and down.

I can’t sit,

Or stand

Only think,

When is this going to stop?
