Brandon F. // PATIENCE

Gentle hazel eyes

And flowing black hair

Of a girl who sits alone.

She waits at the summit of the stairs,

A careful eye towards the bustling street.

No sign of him.

She paces about the stern ground,

Back and forth

Watching the street

Awaiting his arrival

Back and forth.

The thought of tragedy

Alarms and worries her.

A whimper escapes

Into the open air,

Lost in the row of her pacing

Back and forth.

His long awaited return,

And she bounds down the stairs,

The man returns from work

And is greeted by

His faithful dog,

Her tail wagging

Back and forth.
