I have a friend who sucks my time

Demands my attention

At every hour

I try to tell him that

I still have homework and

I need to finish before

I can play

Sometimes I can block out his

Incessant, Indignant, Illicit Voice

Sometimes I can sprint to the finish line

And take a relaxing break with my companion

Sometimes I give into him too early

I succumb to the world in my computer

Or the soothing sunlight stroking my skin

And afterwards I am greeted with

A mountain of homework

To be overcome in the dreary hours of midnight.

And no matter how many times I reject him

Or accept him

The friend that is inside of me

Will never leave
