Isha Jha // ON THE OTHER SIDE

On the sides of the roads
They lay alone, tormented
By the unlucky draws of life
With their once bright colored clothing
Fading a dingy brown
The constant endeavor for food
Traps them in a vicious cycle
Deteriorating their minds and bodies
Until we no longer see them
They become unrecognizable
Cracked lips
And a colorless complexion
They lay tired
Overlooked
Overworked
As they fade into the background
