Jennifer Lo // PERFECT STRANGERS

It seemed so abrupt.

Just the other day

Our friendship was perfect,

Then the very next

We were perfect strangers.

We promised our friendship would never end,

Is this what “forever” meant?

Now we don’t even speak.

We hide behind masks

Both angry and resentful.

Divided by past decisions.

All our smiles are laced with underlying glares.

We turned our backs on one another.

We met as strangers

Then became good friends.

Here we are again,

Perfect strangers.
