He didn’t care that the boy stole his cookie.
He was on a diet anyway.
He didn’t care that his teacher failed him.
It’s the teacher’s opinion, and he’s here to stay.
He didn’t care that kids made fun of him,
and he didn’t care that they called him names.
He didn’t care that the girl he liked
wouldn’t even bother to look his way.
He didn’t care that the people around him
wouldn’t look up from their phones for a moment.
He didn’t care that they based their life
on who got likes and what they comment.
He didn’t care that people focused
on their money and not where it came from.
He didn’t care that they polluted the planet
with their drills ‘cause it made income
And when, because of religious beliefs,
people died in futile warfare,
to those “races” who thought they were better
than any other people out there,
those who made decisions for others
cruelly making life unfair,
since he couldn’t make a difference,
all he said was
“I don’t care.”
